Bloemfontein – The Secretary General of the African National Congress (ANC), Fikile Mbalula has asked members to refrain from mobilizing against Thanduxolo Khalipa, convicted Executive Mayor of Matjhabeng Municipality.
Khalipa was convicted and fined R7000 for assaulting his body guard.
WATCH:
Khalipa while campaigning for local government elections was walking with rifle wielding body guards.
According to the report issued by the provincial office, the municipality has acting mayor bit gotten worse.
“Currently, there is an Acting Mayor who is till holding the fort in the municipality. Unfortunately, the situation has deteriorated to the state it was before the 2021 local government elections when the institution was turned into a den of criminals.”
If no one in the ANC PEC stood up and challenged this report about the state of the municipality then clearly something is wrong with ANC members. Matjhabeng collapsed.
The ANC in Free State is more concerned with rights and benefits of Khalipa and careless of the assault victim.
“The unfortunate part of Cde. Khalipha`s saga was that his rights as a Mayor were violated in that the Matjhabeng Council resolved to withdraw all the benefits accrued to a Mayor including his salary, Protectors and the Municipal vehicle which are regulated through the Mayoral Hand Book since his Stepp Aside decision.”
With local government electrons next year, the ANC is doing exactly what it did ahead of national and elections, defending Phalaphala and expect electroral support.
