Bloemfontein – The Departmental of Education in Free State and a principal of a posh school in Bloemfontein are accused of protecting a pupil involved in sexual misconduct due to his father’s position in government.
STEPUPSANEWS understands the parents of the victim alerted the principal of the school known to this publication and nothing was done.
For protection of both minors, we will not publish the name of the principal, the school, pupils and, their parents.
According to sources close to the victim’s parents, the discovery was found in a phone, and when the child was asked he spilled the beans.
Victim’s parents then approached the school to report the matter.
The school principal allegedly invited the parents of the perpetrator who both work for government to a meeting to inform them about the incident and “no further action” was taken.
Up on realising no action was taken, the victims parents involved social workers and South African Police Service.
The father of the alleged perpetrator is a very senior official in government and it’s alleged his position may be the reason why the school and the department is protecting the pupil.
A father of the victim said he could not comment.
“I have no comment, you will appreciate that this is a private matter that constitutes minor children that we ought to protect including but not limited to even the media interest.”
Howard Ndaba, spokesperson for Department of Education didn’t respond to our questions.
This a developing story.
