Bloemfontein – The appointment of Valentine Senkhane as Chief Director at DESTEA only to serve as MEC’s advisor has caused uproar at the department.
Ketso Makume who is a Member of Executive Council for Finance and Tourism is accused of bypassing recruitment processes after appointing Senkhane
According to sources Senkhane will start on Friday, 1 November 2024.
Chief Directors are salary level 14 and range from R1.2 million to R1.7 million annually.
Makume is no stranger to controversy over appointments with Central University of Technology (CUT) having publicly announced his former Media Liaison Officer had fraudulent/forged transcript.
Last month, Free State Provincial Government laid-off 164 employees in the Office of Premier while Health department laid-off more than 1300 covid-19 nurses.
Ketso Makume didn’t respond to our questions.
In other news, following the story we published yesterday about the trip to Egypt, STEPUPSANEWS has it on good authority only Saki Mokoena, MEC for Human Settlements and COGTA will fly business class, the rest, economy.
While efforts are made to censor and intimidate us by referring media to law enforcement agencies which is nothing new, we will not stop, Mokoena must ask others before him.
Law enforcement agencies must investigate him on why the quotation was not sourced through SCM but him?
The sooner Mokoena realize confidential is not classified, the better.
The Democratic Alliance in Free State has also sent questions to MEC Mokoena.
Pertaining to the 12th World Urban Forum to be held in Cairo, Egypt next month:
- Who is attending from the Department and what is their role in (a) the Department and (b) the delegation?
- What is the cost per attendee for (a) flights and other travel expenses, (b) accommodation, (c) daily allowances and (d) any other expenses?
- What are the expected outcomes for the forum and how will the Free State benefit from the attendance?
Tomorrow we will publish more shocking details about The trip to the Pyramids.
This is developing story.
