“We had no Indians in Mangaung” Tsoleli dragged Equality Court by Lockman-Naidoo

Bloemfontein – The Equality Magistrate Court in Bloemfontein will on the 30 and 31 October 2024, hear an application by Stefanie Lockman-Naidoo, former speaker of Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality.

This is in relation to the WhatsApp texts forwarded in March 2022, in the Women Coordinators group created by Claudia Masoeu.

In the group, Sibongile Tsoleli, MMC for Performance Management forwarded a banner with three pictures of Lockman-Naidoo with this caption:

“People of Mangaung do not be stupid, that Indian guy is family of the husband of the speaker, Stefanie Lockman Naidoo! Before she came, we had no Indians in Mangaung , and she is bringing them to eat Bloemfontein Money”.

According to Lockman-Naidoo, she was alerted by Masoue who was the group administrator.

“Mrs Claudia Masoue promptly informed me when this message was forwarded by the Respondent into the WhatsApp group, at the time she was still the administrator of the group.”

Lock man-Naidoo says Tsoleli refused to delete or remove the after being confronted by Mosoue.

“Mrs Claudia Masoue, who was one of the administrators of the group, informed me that she confronted the Respondent about the text she forwarded and that she advised the Respondent to remove the text, but the Respondent refused to delete or remove the text from the group chat.”

With regards to relief sought, Lockman wants an unreserved apology, Tsoleli to attend human rights workshop.

Ordering the Respondent to attend a human right sensitisation programme at his
own expense, regarding race relations in South Africa within a period of 3 months
from the date of this Honourable Court’s order

Another text Tsoleli forwarded in the same group alleges Lockman thinks the city belong to her because she was sleeping with Patrick and Paseka.

“This girl thinks the council belongs to her because she is sleeping with both Patrick and Paseka.”

Regardless how this goes, it will serve as an example of sharing of forwarding of text messaging.

Both Lockman-Naidoo and Tsoleli could not be reached for comments.
