Bloemfontein – The merry go round (a continuous cycle of activities or events, especially when regarded as pointless in Free State hospitals continues while service delivery becomes nonexistent.
This follows the appointment of Dr Setshego as acting Chief Executive Officer at Pelonomi Regional Hospital.
Dr Setshego replaces Puseletso Mofokeng who only lasted 3 months as head of the intervention team.
Strangely, he is the only one returning to Bophelo House while the rest of his team continues to work with the acting CEO.
According to sources with intimate knowledge at Pelonomi Hospital, Mofokeng’s hard-line approach is the reason why he chose not to extend his acting beyond three months.
Before the appointment of the interim team, Pelonomi Hospital was under Tsietse Makume who was acting for 27 months but was unceremoniously booted in June 2024, after the new administration took over.
Pelonomi’s permanent CEO has been transferred to act elsewhere and he is not the only one.
Phillip Radebe was also transferred despite the department spokesperson denying there were plans to move him.
Dr Noge from Bongani Regional Hospital survived, fortunately.
In other news, the former Provincial Secretary of COSATU and newly elected MEC of Health is dealing with appeals expeditiously.
