Bloemfontein- The 2024 Christmas will be a bleak one for families of at least 164 employees who were served with the nonrenewal of contracts by the Free State Provincial Government.
This action is in contrast to a call made last year by Polediso “50 000 Jobs For The Youth” Motsoeneneng, to HoDs and Municipal Managers to create jobs.
News of terminations reached the rest of this publication on the 4 September 2024, via a text.
“Batho ba 164 kaofela their contracts have been terminated.”
According to a letter dated 2 September 2024, in possession of this publication, signed by acting Director General, Molefinyane Phera, the notice was a reminder of the end of the contract.
“This letter serves to inform you that the Employment Contract with Office of The Premier is ending on the 30 September 2024.
I wish to express gratitude to the Office of The Premier for the services that you have rendered over your period of employment.”
Speaking exclusively to this publication one former employee said they are targeted by the very same party they are members of.
“We are members of the ANC, and we participate in its activities such as campaigning, today, I am home and not because of apartheid, but my party.
They will be expecting us to do door-to-door and promise people work when we campaign for local government elections.”
Another said their houses, and cars will be repossessed.
“Rona ba bang rena le matlo, dikoloi le bana ba dikolong.
Matlo le dikoloi ditlo jowa ha bana ba tlo tebelwa dikolong.”
This is a developing story as we are going to zoom into DG’s role in this including his presentation in the meeting held on May 2023.
The unemployment rate rose to 33.5% in 2024 and the ANC led government continues to cut its nose to spite its face.
