Free State Premier takes interim order to SCA

Staff reporter

Bloemfontein – The legal battle between Joyce Mathae, Free State Premier, and Mosa Masemene, Head of Human Settlement is far from over.

This is after Mathae served papers in the Supreme Court of Appeal challenging the confirmation of the interim order handed down by acting Judge Mahlangu on 16 August 2024.

Mahlangu confirmed the rule nisi order by Judge Molitsoane, a week earlier(8 August 2024).

According to Johannesburg-based law firm, Selepe Attorneys, representing Mathae, acting Judge Mahlangu erred and;

  • Masemene consented to the transfer in a meeting only to retract after the meeting,
  • Masemene’s alleged lack of knowledge in matters of social development does not constitute harm,

Interestingly, nothing about public interest is mentioned in her papers.

Mathae met Dr Takisi Masiteng on the 15 July 2024 and Masemene on the 30 July 2024, but it was Masemene who got the transfer letter.

This practice of using state money is what former Premier, Ace Magashule was accused off and it is now done by the incumbent.

This is a developing story.
