Mosa shows no mercy as Joyce finds no joy in court

Staff reporter

Bloemfontein – Free State High Court delivered a bloody nose to Joyce Mathae, Free State Premier after she decided to reshuffle Mosa Masemene, Head of Department at Human Settlement.

The court ordered Mathae to reinstate Masemene with immediate effect on Friday.

In a repeat of what happened to erstwhile Premier, Sefora Ntombela when Sipho Mtakati, the former head of the department Community Safety, Roads, and Transport mopped the floor with her, it was as clear as daylight that precedence has been set.

With hardly a week, in fact four days in office, Mathae who has never before occupied a senior position in government both at provincial and national level, informed attendees of her first meeting that she will be making changes and allegedly, said some HODs have vowed to take her to court.

In the same meeting, Mathae allegedly said some HODs don’t come to work on Mondays and Fridays.

Having only reshuffled Masemene out of all HODs, it’s difficult not to think she was targeted.

While Peyper Attorneys on behalf of Masemene wrote a letter to Mathae asking for her reasons, Teboho Mokoena, new Human Settlement MEC introduced Advocate Jacob Phahlo to staff in a widely circulated video.

This puts Mokoena right on the spot, first, he had issues with Dr. Takisi Masiteng at DARD, and even took his delegated powers, now, instead of Premier, he introduced a HoD.

Mokoena, spent tax payers money staying at hotels after his swearing in.

Both Premier and MEC are left with ostrich eggs on their faces as Masemene is going back to Human Settlement.

Will Mathae appeal and reshuffle others? Time will tell.

This is a developing story.
