Kimberly – The gatvol residents of Roodepan, in Kimberly, have vowed to repeat the faeces-splashing activity of 2021.
Yesterday, the residents clashed with the police after an official from the municipality was allegedly instructed to disconnect electricity, and the terms of reconnection were ridiculous.

According to a community leader who expressed concerns with the municipality, the majority of residents survive on social grants and can’t afford the R1500 required to reconnect.
“We don’t owe electricity but services such as sundries, garbage collection which is collected once in two months, and water leakage is another issue we keep reporting but never attended to.
If you walk around here you will walk into sewerage that has been running for almost ten years and the least said about potholes the better.”
Another community member said even the money they pay for reconnection doesn’t reduce their debt.
“You know what is sad is the fact that all monies paid to reconnect your power are not contributing anything towards your debt.
If they continue like this, we will repeat what we did in 2021 when we splashed k@k in the councilor’s yard.”
