Braamfontein – The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) has gone missing in action months after it launched an investigation into Masechaba Sesing, head of Treasury.
SAICA is a body at the “forefront of developing, influencing and leading the highest standards of ethics, education and professional excellence in delivering quality accountability skills” according to an extract on its website.
In the initial engagement, SAICA outright denied Sesing was their member but made a U-turn citing that the names she used were different from what we enquired about, this was after we sent follow-up questions a month later.
In their right of reply, Freeman Nomvalo their CEO confirmed Sesing was their member and they had jurisdiction.
He further indicated how SAICA runs its investigations.
Up on learning SAICA had requested Sesing to hand over documents and a few were allegedly omitted, we sent them to SAICA as they couldn’t reach the complainant but we had all the evidence they needed.
Rennet Human, spokesperson for SAICA did acknowledge receipts of additional documents and that was it.
Nomvalo said they will wait for the PSC investigation to conclude as that will assist them and now the PSC investigation is complete and SAICA is nowhere to be found, again.
The PSC recommended Premier, Mxolisi Dukwana subject Sesing to disciplinary hearing.
Let’s wait and see what Dukwana will do because just like Ramaphosa, they are just on top, doing nothing.
