Bloemfontein – The list purported to be of the African National Congress has painted a clear picture of what’s to come in Free State, according to the said list, only three members from the previous administration made it.
Only Zanele Sefuba, Thabo Meeko, and Makalo Mohale are included in the list, the rest are the members of the chaotic and controversial conference linked with the Ankole and TIntswalo faction, the unity and renewal rhetorical-ists.
Sefuba is the highest candidate of the three in position 13 followed by Meeko and Mohale in positions 17 and 22 respectively.
Former Director General of Free State Provincial Government and MEC, Elsabe Rockman is number 5 while former COGTA and Agriculture MEC, Oupa Khoabane also made a comeback at number 7, they are likely to be MECs again. Likely!
As things stand, the ANC has nineteen (19) seats in the legislature from the just over 60% it got in the 2019 elections.
Should the status core remain, the ANC will hang on to power and the opposite is also possible, should they lose at least 5 seats which is possible considering how divided the ANC in the Free State is and the en-routes made by ACT and ATM, the ANC might even be forced to either sit in the opposition benches or even better, sit with Ace Magashule to form a coalition, same Magashule they expelled.
Talk about cutting your nose to spite your face.
The ANC in the province has not yet started with its campaign partly due to among others, all leaders being in government MECs and neglecting party work.
Among the issues employees complain about, are the new MECs transferring staff unilaterally and having eyes on the SCM which led to fights with HoDs.
With elections just few weeks away, newly formed parties will not only threaten the ANC but also the DA and the EFF.
In other news Thabang Mokoka, a director for media in the office of the Premier has returned to his position after miraculously being seconded to CUT, yes Central University of Technology.
His position was handed to Palesa Chubisi on a silver plate. Chubusi’s contract was linked to the erstwhile former Premier Sefora Ntombela and her move to Mokoka’s position is still being investigated by AGSA.
Has the ANC done enough to give them the 7th chance like a cat?
