Bloemfontein – The South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) in the Free State Province is divided over the alleged appointment of its provincial secretary as a school principal.
Bricks Moloi, who has been serving as provincial secretary of SATDU in Free State since 2012 has never been classed as his union work is permanent. Still, miraculously he was appointed a principal according to sources inside the teachers Union.
A PEC member who spoke on condition of anonymity said the entity appointment is kept a secret because it’s unlawful.
“We heard last year that PS has been appointed a principal and has not resigned from the union leadership position.
No one knows what’s happening and it’s becoming crystal clear that this is kept a secret because it’s unlawful.”
Another source said it would be unfortunate for a P1 teacher to jump all levels to become a principal.
“Union jobs are normally for P1 teachers because HoD or Deputy Principal can not.
So it would mean Moloi jumped all other levels and became a principal when he has never been in class for over 10 years.”
It’s not clear if Moloi applied, got shortlisted, and interviewed for the job as that would put him and SADTU in a compromising position.
In 2021 when this publication wrote articles about irregular appointments at FoE, SADTU released this statement.

The same convicted criminal SADTU jumped up and down about is still working for FoE despite PSC making a finding.
When we published an article about the principal and teachers of St Bernard’s High School dancing on top of the tables and smoking hubbly bubbly on the school premises SADTU did not comment.

However, when Tshediso Mangope shared two posts on Facebook about teachers eating mangwinya, SADTU came with guns blazing and poor Mangope had to apologize.

Two weeks ago during the PEC meeting it’s alleged SADTU deputy secretary said the article about December Moloi is just rumours and they don’t respond to rumours. We are coming back to this story in few weeks.
Howard Ndaba, spokesperson for Free State Education didn’t respond to our questions about the alleged appointment of Bricks Moloi.
