Bloemfontein – The community of Winnie Mandela town, previously, was up in arms and felt abandoned by the ANC-led government and vowed not to vote.

WATCH: Inside the clinic

This they said during a surprise visit to check the status of Vaalrock Clinic which burned down in May 2018, the new MEC of Health, Mathabo Leeto committed at least R704 million to build at least 8 clinics.

“We are used for votes and after that they disappear, it happened in 2021 when government officials came just before local government elections.

After that, they have never, not even once set their feet here.”

Another resident who stays a few blocks from the clinic said this affects black people only.

“This clinic is so close to the high school and should kids get sick they can’t be helped on time and we blacks in this township suffer the most as we have to walk kilometers to get medical help.”

It’s not clear as to why the clinic is not even built and what happened to the budgeted money.

Vaalrock clinic is going through the same path as the dust-gathering statue of former prime Minister of Lesotho, Leabua Jonathan is at Musicon after the Lesotho government rejected it, the status had caused the department R3.5 million and the MEC was none other than the current Health executive authority.
