Mayor Khalipha draws the line in the sand.

Staff reporter

Bloemfontein – The embattled Matjhabeng Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Thanduxolo Khalipa has drawn the line in the sand for his political staff.

In a leaked recorded rant Khalipa purported to have been of a meeting held last week, the mayor threatened staff expulsion if they did not do ANC work.

The Mayor can be heard asking at least two ladies which branches they belong to before telling a lady who does not even know who her branch chairman is.

“ I am going to develop a template, everyone must go do ANC work on Mondays after work and report to your branch secretaries.”

He continued.

Some of you don’t come to work, others come at 11h00. The Chief Whip and Speaker come to work, I also come to work.”

Khalipa is not known for controversy, during the local government elections campaign his pictures walking with heavily armed men made the rounds on social.

In November 2021 the ANC through its spokesperson Oupa Khoabane defended Khalipa when it was revealed he was their mayor-elect and lacked qualifications.

Khoabane said Khalipha possessed enough experience and other leadership qualities. “What counts most is strategic leadership in the institution.

Matjhabeng is in a mess from refuse, sewage spillage, potholes, dirty water if any, etc.

They know so much about what the pedophile did but could not even support the family of a minor allegedly raped by one of their comrades.
