Bloemfontein – The office of the provincial secretariat of the African National Congress (ANC) in the Free State was once again exposed following the submission of the highly contested Provincial List Committee (PLC).
This follows a letter dated 21 August 2023, in possession of this publication sent by former president Kgalema Motlanthe to the provincial secretary of ANC Free State, Polediso Lihelele Motsoeneng in which Motlanthe confirms the PLC as follows:
Joyce Mthembu as the chairperson
Lulama Ceba
Michael Thembinkosi Atolo
Bojosi Mile
Advocate Sephiri Moshodi
Spirit Monyobo
Motlanthe then shifts his focus to office bearers who are not eligible to be members of the PLC.
“Please note that codes Teboho Kholoanyane (SACP), Mayibuye Bangani (ANCYL), Elias Houza Togoe (ANCYL), Monyatso Mahlatsi (COSATU) and Lulama Titi-Odi (ANCWL) are office bearers and PEC members of their respective organizations are not eligible to be members of the PLC as per the rules approved by the NEC.”
After asking Motsoeneng to submit a replacement of non-qualifying candidates, Motlanthe deals with due diligence.
“As part of due diligence, the appointed members of the PLC shall be subjected to our standard vetting procedures, and we may revert to you should the need arise.”
Sources in the ANC who spoke on condition of anonymity say this is telling on the part of the secretariat.
Another source said Motsoeneng should have picked up all these before he submitted names.
“If our PS has done due diligence none of this would be happening, he should have picked up all these before he sent names to Luthuli House.”
Motsoeneng is not new to controversy, just last month he said they were products of fraud, a move that forced the PEC to convene a special meeting to nip this in the butt to do damage control with sources saying the meeting was heated and Motsoeneng was called to order.
Before that, he fired Thembeni Nxangisa via a WhatsApp text while he invited the HoDs and Municipal Managers to the ANC fundraising event a few days after the Democratic Alliance won their case against the ANC over cadre deployment.
The ANC lost their leave to appeal case in the SCA on Tuesday with costs and the ruling party has been ordered to provide the DA with all records requested by the DA, including the minutes, CVs, email correspondence, and WhatsApp conversations dating back to 1 January 2013.
The question now is out of 94 senior managers who do not have qualifications for their jobs in FSPG according to Thulas Nxesi, how many are deployed?
In other news, the interviews for vacant HoD positions have started this week and it remains to be seen if the deployment will continue or if people will be appointed on merit.
We hope there won’t be any meetings in Saxonworld, Sandton, or even China before appointments are done.
