Centlec drags acting CFO through the coals over sexual harassment allegations

Staff reporter

Bloemfontein – The Mangaung-based power utility Centlec is dragging its acting Chief Financial Officer, Sam Zziwa over the coals for sexual harassment.

This follows an incident of Zziwa allegedly kissing his colleague on the cheek without consent.

Zziwa has been suspended and today his disciplinary hearing continues, sources accuse the power utility of protecting Zziwa due to his seniority at work a notion that was quickly dismissed by Lele Mamatu, spokesperson for Centlec.

“It is not true that we are not protecting anyone.

We confirm that the employee is currently on suspension and we cannot comment as it will jeopardize the ongoing disciplinary process.”

Mamatu further said they have zero tolerance for Gender-Based Violence.

“The entity constantly conducts sexual harassment workshops to employees and has zero tolerance to GBV.”

According to the NICRO report in possession of this publication, Zziwa was referred to NICRO by the Bloemfontein Magistrate Court on 8 March 2023 for a diversion program. The program had 8 modules which he completed.

The program according to the report aims to reduce the risk fa ties associated with criminal and delinquent behavior.

“In addition, the client accepted responsibility for the crime committed. He also expressed regret and learned to abide by the law,” reads the report.

The recommendation is if the court is in agreement, the charges against Zziwa be withdrawn.

Samuel Zziwa the accused and suspended acting CFO at Centlec did not respond to our questions despite asking the deadline be extended.

Spanish Football Federation president Luis Rubiales has also been caught with more or less similar action and he has apologised after a huge backlash.
