Tickets for Lemo Fest open

Staff reporter

Bloemfontein – The inaugural Lemo Festival taking place from 1 – 15 October 2023, promises to be what MACUFE should have been all along, with arts and craft added.

This follows our article on Monday in which we reported there would be no Macufe this year despite undertaking by government in the budget vote and social impact workshop.

Named after the mall-based situated in Heidedal, most of the festivities will be held in the vicinity of the mall aimed at boosting the local economy and mainly, the previously disadvantaged and marginalised.

This is the very first time a mall has its festival in South Africa, given the fact that this is the mall’s seventh year.

The festival starts with Thanksgiving on October 1 and ends with Macufe Cup on October 15.

Tickets for the festival are open and can be purchased at computicket, from general access to VIP.

The rest of the program is as follows:

– Expo
– Lemo Run
– Qoai Fashion Show
– Woman2Woman concert
– Piano Nights
– All White Gospel Experience
– Comedy Show

Speaking at the launch, owner, and director of Kenny Group. Freedy Kenney started by thanking the Mangaung community for supporting and protecting his business over the years.

“Lemo Festival is going to grow from year to year, strength to strength, we want to see how could we take the economy of the township to a better place and only Mangaung people can. In the next coming three years, we want another Lemo Mall at Dinaweng.”

The event is hosted by Kennedy Group in partnership with Consumer Connectedness (C-2) which has successfully hosted Macufe for at least 19 years.

All eyes are now on Free State Provincial Government as to what their plan is, if any!
