Bloemfontein – The leadership of the African National Congress (ANC) is fuming at Mxolisi Dukwana, Free State Premier over the extension of Kopung Ralikontsane, Director General without consulting with them.
This comes after Dukwana told the ANC on Wednesday while preparing for social compact session and the term of the new leadership in office.
Sources say everyone was shocked as no one knew Ralikontsane’s contract will be renewed.
“This came as a by-the-way kinda vibe as not even the deployment committee, nor Polediso Motsoeneneng, Provincial Secretary knew.”
According to our source, the reason advanced by Dukwana is the 2024 national elections.
Ralikontsane whose contract was ending in September is in the middle of a saga around the cost of Tate Makgoe, the late Education MEC funeral, and that of his bodyguard, Vuyo Mdi who was also buried by the state.
The cost as per Dukwana’s response to the Democratic Alliance (DA) is R3.5 million but Step Up has discovered that the total cost is R5.2 million and Mdi’s costs were concealed.
Public Protector South Africa (PPSA) and Special Investigating Unit (SIU) are currently investigating this and Dukwana is facing a motion of no confidence from the EFF over the same.
EFF in the Province said this shows how clueless the Premier is about administration as he is hardly in office.
“The Premier knew the contract was coming to an end or maybe he did not know as he is all over.
They should have advertised the position and allowed people to apply.
We will nail him.”

A livid ANC PEC member said the ruling party learned nothing from Dukwana in the Interim Provincial Committee (IPC).
“This is exactly what he did in the IPC, he failed to implement 6 point plan which included 50/50 representation in government after the dissolution of PEC by the Supreme Court of Appeal, he was the only one employed while many of us were outside.
Some of us even got money from Paseka Nompondo to attend IPC duties because we were unemployed.
He is now Premier and continues unabated.”
The name of Sbongile Besani popped up again as our source concluded.
“With the EFF motion gaining momentum and his failures, maybe comrade Sbongile Besani must come to take us to national elections.”
Ralikontsane’s contract which has been extended by a year was among three other contracts that were ending in August and September, if the real reason his contract was extended is stability then the HoD contracts ending in the same period should be extended but watch as they leave as useless logic of stability thrown out if the window.
In other news the Hawks are reportedly circling around two MECs over covid-19 graft totalling R17 million.
Yesterday, at least one MEC was served search and seizure with arrests imminent.
According our source the money was put in a trust account of a law firm and collected cash on the other side in a LEQE LEQE fashion.
