The Interim Provincial Committee (IPC) meeting held in Kroonstad on Monday turned into a fingering contest between supporters of ConvenorMxolisi Dukwana, attacking Coordinator Paseka Nompondo, over Mangaung Metro with Nompondo blaming Dukwana in return.
According to sources, things took a wrong turn when Ike Moroe, Greg Nthatisi, and Kgotso Sesele all blamed Nompondo for failing to implement IPC resolutions and recalling of Mangaung TRIOKA in particular.
A source who spoke on condition of anonymity said Nompondo called his distractors names.
“Nompondo rightfully defended himself and told them they are disingenuous, he also told them that the same IPC instructed him not be involved in the Mangaung Metro matters following unfounded allegations leveled against him.
He referred to the virtual meeting of May where it was resolved Dukwana in his capacity as IPC convenor and MEC for COGTA should rather handle the recall of TROIKA and the failures of Dukwana must not be put on his shoulders.”
It’s not the first time Paseka throws Dukwana under the bus as it is alleged when Polediso Motsoeneng asked when is he becoming a MEC Nompondo said told him to ask Dukwana.
Another source said Nompondo was defended by Sefora Ntombela and her MECs.
“As expected the beneficiaries of the 2017 conference came to the defense of Nompondo and the attack was launched by Sefora Ntombela, deputy convenor, and Free State Premier and she was followed by Mamiki Qabathe, Social Development MEC, and Montsheng Tsiu, Health MEC all pointing to the virtual meeting that was held in May this year.
This is the case of those in power protecting their bread and this is the biggest mistake we made when we allowed the points we agreed on when IPC was formed to be flushed down the toilet.
We are the biggest losers as we don’t have resources while they are in government and have access to the purse.”
Last week IPC recalled TROIKA and today at 10h00 Mangaung Metro will have a special council meeting at Chambers. The council is expected to be another war between N8 and Southern Sun factions.
When Siyonzana faced his motion of no confidence IPC sent Nompondo to ensure party councilors vote according to the party line, it will be interesting to see who is sent today.
Three names were put forward to replace Mxolisi Siyonzana, the embattled Executive Mayor of Mangaung and it remains who emerges between Seiso Mohai, Greg Nthatisi, and Lulama Titi.
Let them finger each other until they come right.
In other news, an unconfirmed report from Free State Legislature states that Zanele Sefuba has been suspended and it’s appalling that a victim of GBV can be suspended instead of her party hunting the perpetrator.
This is a developing story.
