The appointment of Montsheng Tsiu, Member Of the Executive Council for Health to act at Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation by Sefora Ntombela, Free State Premier has raised eyebrows with those close to the situation saying it’s linked to the Macufe saga.
A leaked letter addressed to Tsiu has sparked speculation with sources in the IPC saying this could be the end of the road for Mahasa.
Though the letter is confusing as it’s addressed to MEC Montsheng Tsiu with Health address, it starts with Dear MEC Koloi. Fortunately, we have verified MEC Koloi will be out of the country next week so she can’t act.
Whoever is responsible for drafting letters for the premier continues to embarrass her unabated but that’s a story for another day.
“Kindly be advised that in terms of Section 138 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, I hereby appoint you as Acting MEC for Sports, Arts, Culture, and Recreation from 03 to 09 November 2022.
You will be responsible for the performance of the duties of the above-mentioned position and the concomitant delegated powers attached thereto.
Please ensure that sufficient time is made to deal with matters of this Department whilst MEC Mahase is unavailable,” reads the letter.
Last week we reported on a plan to reshuffle Tsiu and William Bulwane with Mathabo Leeto and Polediso Motsoeneneng respectively and insiders say Tsiu will remain at SACR permanently while Bulwane will go back to Agriculture to replace Thembeni Nxangisa to make way for Motsoeneng at Police, Roads, and Transport.
Four candidates were interviewed yesterday for the HoD position which has been vacant since Ntombela suspended Sipho Mtakati and ultimately settled him with over 15 months remaining in his contract.
In other news Nozy Molikoe, Human Settlement CFO remains suspended and it looks like it will indefinitely as no charges are being brought forward.
This is a developing story.
