The much anticipated ANC Provincial Conference seems very unlikely with each day passing and the province will set an unprecedented record of failing to hold a provincial conference.
In the two previous national conferences, the delegates from the province were barred from voting in Mangaung in 2012 and 2017 due to court judgments.
In July, the IPC Coordinator Paseka Nompondo said the party will have its provincial conference in September and a leaked letter from Paul Mashatile, acting Deputy Secretary General dated 16th August 2022 addressed to Provincial Secretaries and Coordinators informing them of the cut of date for the 55th national conference must not be read out of context.
“a) Provinces and regions must submit the schedules with details of their new branch secretaries as per the template from the Organising Department so that the assignment of Branch Secretaries’ roles can be completed.
b) Branch Secretaries must ensure that, in consultation with the BEC, they consider and so approval of members on their worklist;
c) Training for Branch Secretaries will start from next week on the membership system or provinces can request physical training; and
d) BECs must consider their membership lists and remind members to renew”, and reads the letter.
Can Free State ANC tick all the boxes? Yes, they can but who stands to benefit if the province fails to hold its provincial conference?
Between RET A, RET B and CR22 there is a faction that is crossing its fingers the conference does not happen.
The IPC should be very proud of failing branches.
In other news, Masilonyana Municipality Executive Mayor has stepped aside with sources saying she was pushed out by Southern Sun branch of the ANC.
