The Auditor General office in Free State will on Tuesday unpack the outcomes of the province’s municipalities and their entities.
This follows the national audit report last month that showed none of the Free State municipalities, like not even one received a clean audit and this was for the fifth year in a row.
“The audit outcomes of the province regressed over the term of the previous administration. During the five years, the province did not achieve any clean audits.”
AGSA, Tsakane Maluleke blamed the mess on the inaction of political and administrative leadership.
“Inaction by political and administrative leadership continued to be a deliberate obstruction to municipalities’ effectiveness functioning.
The provincial leadership should be very concerned about the state of the affairs.”
All eyes will be on the troubled Mangaung Metro and its entities.
Mangaung Metro Executive Mayor, Mxolisi Siyonzana survived his first motion of no confidence by a very small margin with sources saying at the time his survival was purely based on the ANC not willing to vote out their own Mayor.
Mangaung has been plagued with one mess after mess due to lack of servicesas the city is smelly, full of potholes and the community protest last year in May led to the death of the 14 year old boy from Heidedal.
A year later things got worse as we got to learn of ghost workers and the video of the former acting City Manager being manhandled in the premises of the Metro.
Focus will be on its entities such as Centlec and Bloem Water.
News reaching our table is a legal opinion is being sought to determine the legitimacy of what remains of the board, if any.
Of course those who will be providing that legal opinion could not be bothered by receiving money.
In February Kenosi Moroka one of the two remaining board members asked Siyonzana to intervene in what he described as dysfunctional board and in a leaked audio Moroka told DA councilor he will soon resign.
How the ANC is allowing this is amazing.
It remains to be seen what Audit outcome of Mangaung and its entities are.
