Centlec CEO sues DA councilor in Mangaung R5 million for defamation

 
 
The CEO of CENTLEC SOC LTD is suing the Democratic Alliance (DA) councilor in Mangaung over R5 million for defamation.
 
In Court papers stamped 18 May 2022, in possession of this publication, Malefane Sekoboto, Centlec CEO states between July 2020 and September 2020 he was appointed acting CEO of Centlec and by further 3 months from October 2020 till December 2020.
 
During this period Mokgadi Kganakga allegedly opened a case of fraud against Sekoboto alleging he committed fraud relating to his appointment.
 
“The matter was not carried through as there was no cause for the state to investigate Sebokobo,” reads a court papers filed by Jimmy Nhlapho of Zwelibanzi Ngququ INC.
 
Sekoboto argues Kganakga wrongfully and with malicious intend injured his character by making false report with state Hawks which lead to false publications and malicious statements about the and concerning him by claiming:
 
He committed fraudulent acts,
He was falsely appointed as CEO of Centlec
He is a harraser
 
He contonues that the actions and statements made by Kganakga towards him are defamatory in that:
 
Sekoboto is a criminal,
He was illegally appointed,
He does not deserve to be the CEO
He acted deceitfully

Sekoboto cites two articles from News24 and City Press in his papers.

Sebokoto asked the court for R3 million for damages and R2 million for delict developed to promote the spirit, purpot and objects of Bill of Rights.

In other Centlec news the case that was brought by erstwhile CFO, Hlonelwa Nkomo has been struck off thd roll on Friday.


Both Sekoboto and Kganakga could not be reached for comments.
