Following reports of how useless the Free State IPC has been since its installation last year on the 27 May 2021 after the African National Congress National Working Committee tasked former president Kgalema Motlanthe to form a unity and renewal project with both factions, the end is near.
Step Up SA News has it in good authority that the NWC is set to disband the IPC on two grounds namely;
- Its mandate has expired and there is no need to extend it,
- It failed to unite the province
The IPC was formed following the 2021 Supreme Court of Appeal judgment that set aside and declared the 2018 provincial conference unlawful.
When the IPC was installed the purpose was to infuse two factions with 50-50 representations in all leadership positions including the executive and that became a dream for hopefuls.
Apart from factional battles airing in public the NEC report showed that of 319 only 44 branches are in good standing, this is beyond pathetic.
It remains to be seen if the province will have an elective conference.
In May ANC Mangaung Region marched to the provincial office and demanded the IPC be disbanded.
According to three independent sources, the IPC downfall started when the convener, Mxolisi Dukwana became MEC for Public Works and Human Settlement and made the renewal about him only and having Lihelele Motsoeneng, deputy coordinator who is based in Pretoria.
Since the installation, only Dukwana has joined the executive much to the anger of those who supported him, and it’s now alleged he is losing favor with the national.
Last week Dukwana was seen in a video by a Youth League member who alleged they were sidelined.
Even the Military Veterans also marched and it never rains but pours.
With the provincial government making wrong decisions with impunity the question that we must ask ourselves is what is the IPC Legislature and Governance sub-committee doing about the rot in the provincial government?
