Is Lindiwe Sisulu an option for anyone but the Ramaphosa brigade?

In politics, there are no permanent friends and at the same time, there are no permanent enemies.

A few years ago and to be precise in the last ANC National Conference held at the Nasrec, Lindiwe Sisulu was in the CR17 slate as their nominee for Deputy president, only to lose out to David ‘The Cat’ Mabuza who was on the opposing slate.

Just to refresh your memory this is what the CR17 slate looked like:
Cyril Ramaphasa – President
Lindiwe Sisulu – Deputy President
Gwede Matashe – National Chairperson
Senzo Mchunu- Secretary-General
Zongilise Losi – Deputy Secretary-General
Paul Mashatile – Treasurer

Out of the 6 CR17 slates, only 50% made it while the other 3 positions were taken by ND17.

No one spoke of the conference except for Ace Magashule, the now-suspended secretary of the ANC who said 5 years will come. That received a backlash from almost everyone who supported Cyril Ramaphosa including Bheki Cele, the Police Minister.

Fast forward to late 2021 Lindiwe Sisulu writes a scratching letter aimed at the judiciary.
Ramaphosa supporters asked for the president to sack her and the political commentator warned against that as she would get her sympathy from the public and more importantly the RET who do not support his second term.

What followed was drama as there was a joint media statement from the presidency and Sisulu that implied that Sisulu had apologized and she quickly distanced herself from the statement which left an egg on the presidency.

Having tasted blood and realizing Ace Magashule and Zweli Mkhize (who his camp says is targeted because of the conference) might not make the shortlist after the NEC amended the step aside rule barring every criminally charged person from contesting elections, she probably looked around and said I am taking the buffalo by the horns.

Sisulu has now written a letter to President Ramaphosa asking for an investigation into claims made by Dr. JJ Tabane that some ANC leaders formed the Congress of The people.

This Tabane said in a podcast interview three weeks ago.

Is Sisulu speaking as a concerned citizen or just politicking?

Well has she said anything about service delivery, corruption, state capture, and PPE scandals to mention a few?

With Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Eastern Cape having thrown their weight behind. It will remain to be seen if she can take on Ramaphosa but more importantly, does she have support like Magashule and Mkhize? Or she is a Trojan horse of the RET?

This is a developing story.
