NCOP committee chair blasts Mangaung Mayor

The Chairperson of the Select Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs; Water and Sanitation, China Dodovu, on Friday blasted Mangang Metro Mayor, Mxolisi Siyonzana for what the committee views as disregard to the work the committee does.

This as the municipality failed to provide presentations as expected to said committee. The absence of the MMC for Finance, was also flagged by the committee.

Dodovu’s frustrations were shared by Mathabo Leeto – member of the ANC’s interim provincial committee (IPC) in the Free State as well as Free State SALGA President and Jimmy Motsi the chairman of SAMWU.

What is of great concern is Mzi Nkungwana, acting City Manager claimed he was not briefed and Mapeseka Nkoane, Deputy Mayor said she only became aware of the meeting at 13h30. The whole Deputy Mayor.

In a leaked 56 minutes long audio of the meeting in possession of this publication, Dodovu told Siyonzana that his committee would dissolve the municipality if they dont get their house in order.

The committee postponed the meeting to a date to be confirmed and SAMWU president asked for an in person meeting, claiming they had to borrow laptops for the virtual meeting and contribute by buying data.

The meeting was attended by Mxolisi Dukwana, MEC for COGTA who has not being able to provide leadership as Mangaung battles with service delivery and internal politics.

The dissolution would deal his premiership candidacy a huge blow.
